An Ordinary Day
Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 7:19PM I drove Grace to school this morning and continued on to the gym, where I checked Trent into the "kids club", ran a mile on the treadmill, and took a kickboxing class. After that, Trent and I went home and he played with legos while I showered, dressed, cleaned up the kitchen, and folded laundry. I sent Derek a text, asking him to meet me for lunch and fixed Trent a sandwich. Trent ate his lunch and then read to me while waiting for his bus to pick him up.
After Trent got on the bus, I got in the car and drove downtown to meet Derek for lunch. We had teriyaki and a rare uninterrupted conversation. Later, back at home, some reading, some work around the house, and then it was time to put the leash on the dog and walk to the school to get the kids. After that, it was time to take Trent to karate, followed by a quick trip to the grocery store for dinner.
After eating pizza for dinner, Grace and I took the dog for a walk and I took the pictures included with this post. We walked through the woods and she learned the hard way what stinging nettles are. An itchy rash now covers the leg that brushed against them. Now at home, the rest of the evening should be a quiet one...some blogging, maybe watch a movie with Derek after the kids go to sleep. An ordinary day.

that may be an ordinary day, but its also a rich and beautiful one. how lovely things are for you in your new home! and I love the photos - not only the images but how you have tended to them. I especially love the one with the door opening to the garden - so evocative, alluring, inspiring.
Ordinary days are so beautiful. Really, they are. It will be such fun to read back on what an ordinary day looked like right now in a few years!!

Oh how beautiful! It looks like Eden!
I think it is the ordinary that makes life extraordinary. :)
Beautiful post!
Beautiful, beautiful ordinary. I really enjoyed reading this, Dawn.
i think I'm tired just reading that.
The third photo is stunning! I hope her leg doesn't hurt for too long.
Nothing with that much beauty can be called ordinary! It's simply stunning.
Thank you for sharing, and I will certainly be back on your blog.
