I won some tickets to a wine tasting at Woodland Park Zoo last week, from Parent Map, so my husband and I got to enjoy a fun evening together, sampling some Washington state wines and visiting the animals. Parent Map quite frequently has giveaways to Seattle area events on their Facebook page. So if you like free stuff, I'd recommend that you go and "like" their page. Entering the contests is usually as easy as just leaving a comment, and the odds of winning are often very good. The weather was gorgeous; a perfect evening to sit on the grass for a picnic and listen to the band.Viewing the animals while the zoo was closed was definitely a treat. They seemed more active than any other time I had ever seen them. Woodland Park has four new young wolves that completely charmed me. They were very playful, much like my own dog. After we were done at the zoo, we wandered around the Wallingford neighborhood a bit, admiring the gardens, and enjoying some homemade gelato from Veraci pizza. We decided to ride the bus home that night, and ended up waiting for a transfer in downtown Seattle. You never know what you'll see or hear in downtown Seattle at 11 pm. That night, we heard some fantastic drum playing from this little guy. He'll probably end up on You Tube. There were dozens of people, standing around, recording him. My cute date and myself. For those who live on the Eastside, and want to go to the zoo during the day without the hassle of driving/parking, there is a free zoo shuttle this summer. For more information, click here.
