A Masquerade Ball

An evening of dancing and beautiful costumes, I had been looking forward to this night for a long time.  We've been married for sixteen years now, and we've never been out dancing.  There were a few weddings here and there with dancing, but we didn't really know how to dance, so we didn't.  But this time there was dance instruction.  Salsa, swing, ballroom....we tried it all.  I guess we're salsa people, because that was the only kind that we could both do.  The swing dancing was fun for me, but not Derek.  Derek can waltz.  I just kept stepping on his toes.  He looked so handsome.  I loved dancing with him.

Most of the people at the party were from the church we attend, Mars Hill.  They're a fun group of people.  The girl who organized it all is just awesome.  She knows how to throw a great party.  Thanks Chelsea!

I LOVE church people who know how to party! I LOVE that - because you know the spirit and the fun will both be good and harmonious. Chaz loves masquerade balls - and longs to go to one - longs to organize one.

Looks like a whole lot of fun. We have been married for 29 years and we have never gone dancing either. Unless you count when Paul takes my hand and wants to dance in the kitchen. :)

Kristen- Yes, me too! I love church people who can party. Please tell Chaz to just go for it! : ) This one was held at a community center. The girl who put it all together sold tickets to help pay for the cost of renting the venue and the food. Then she put out a Facebook invite that allowed people to invite their friends too. She used some kind of online ticket selling application. There was such demand for the tickets that she had to keep changing the venue to bigger places. It was a sold out event. I can't imagine all the little details that went into the planning.

Wow! What a fun night! It looks like everyone really got into the theme, which makes it even more special. You and Derek are such a striking couple in your finery. And the people in the first picture you have posted look like they just stepped out of a time machine.

Thank you Tara. I didn't even know those people in that first picture, but they looked so great that I just had to introduce myself and ask to take a picture. ; )
