We have been having a wonderful, weekend long celebration for my daughter's birthday. She declined to have her picture taken all weekend, so what we have here are mostly pictures of food. Friday night started with some friends sleeping over. Grace planned the menu: homemade pizza, chocolate cupcakes, chocolate and green tea mochi, raspberry chocolate sticks, jelly beans, and sparkling pink lemonade. Sweet? Very. But she knew what her friends would want. We didn't have any leftovers. ; )
Polka dots and stripes were the theme of the night.
The party favor "ice cream flowers".
And some of the first crocus of the season outside.....
Breakfast was waffles with strawberries, whipped cream, and sprinkles. There was sausage too, but I think the dog ended up eating most of that.
Derek took Grace to tea at the Georgian room on Saturday afternoon. I'm told that it was beautiful, a special afternoon indeed. Derek is a very good Dad.
And today was a trip to the mall with no time limits. She has long stated a wish that she could just go to the mall without having to hurry. So that's what we did. Just Grace and I, because nobody else in our family has that kind of endurance. We ate a big breakfast. I was ready. But actually, she ran out of steam after only 2.5 hours. I could have gone for longer. ; ) I think this will go down as a memorable, fun birthday.
