Habits worth keeping...

...the best way to get a moment to myself, to have a complete, uninterrupted thought, is to take off on a run. This running thing is growing on me, sort of like the moss that grows on everything around here. Today I was needed elsewhere, so I missed my run. And I really did miss it! Weird. I never thought I'd say that. The fact that I have some beautiful running trails right around my neighborhood certainly helps. The trails are really for the local horses and their people. Sometimes they can be more like an obstacle course....

Coffee shops are where my husband and I go together to have complete uninterrupted conversations. Those rarely happen at home. We've been making a point of doing this more often- at least once a week.
Another habit that I like to keep is walking to the school to meet my son each day. He's old enough, and the school is close enough that he really doesn't need this from me anymore. But I still do it, because I treasure this time with him. This is usually when he tells me about his day. I brought him a chocolate donut to eat on the way home yesterday. Today we stopped to play in the woods.
My daughter and I probably get the most uninterrupted time together, since she's homeschooled. But most of our meaningful conversations happen when we're in the car. That's why I make a habit of turning off the radio when I drive places with her.

All great ideas! I would love to be able to go to a coffee shop with Paul once a week. It would mean an hour commute, a babysitter and... aw forget it. PS Can you really drink coffee at night and then sleep?
Michelle, Yes! I drink coffee right before I go to sleep sometimes. ; )
These are the treasure habits. The places where the most valuable things are hidden, waiting to be found. And if there are horses around, too - so much the better.
I love how you mindfully make time. :-)
Thank you Kristen, Michelle, and Sarah. : )
