Hi, I'm Dawn Klinge, welcome!  I write here because doing so helps me to take notice of the sweet things in life.

Allergy season seems to be knocking me off my feet once again this spring.  Writing here is harder when my thoughts are so muddled by a lack of sleep.  Sleeping is difficult when it's hard to breathe.  I keep reminding myself that this is only for a season, I will feel better soon.  It happens every year.  This isn't the time to do something so drastic as making my blog go away, as I did last year. ; )

I did do something drastic though.  I'm not sure if I regret it or not.  I went to the salon and had over six inches of my hair cut off!  That was two years worth of growth!  I was having an "ugly" day and decided to do something about it.  Problem was, that the "ugly" had more to do with blotchy red nose and puffy, watery eyes, and not a whole lot to do with the hair.  So there will be no pictures of the new hair cut, not until the allergies are gone.  Then I'll decide if I regret cutting my hair.  Although it's a little late for that.

The pictures that I've included with this post are associated with some blessing counting that I've been doing.  I've always tried to use this photography hobby of mine as a way to capture my gratitude, but now I've got something that makes it even easier.  I installed the 1,000 Gifts app. on my phone.  If you've read Ann Voskamp's, 1,000 Gifts, then you probably know what I'm talking about.   The app is free and couldn't be any easier to use.  All I do is open the app and say what it is I'm grateful for,  including a picture if I want.  I don't even have to type it.  I always have my phone with me, so there is no forgetting to write things down when I don't have a pencil/paper handy.

Here's a few of my latest entries....

vignettes of my little boy's creativity,  the sight of my handsome husband wearing a tie to work, shopping with my mom and my daughter, a son who noticed I lost weight- and his sweet comment, a protective husband (makes me feel loved), the return of spring, the public library, warm blankets and cuddles on the couch....

I just finished reading my favorite book of the year (so far).  The quote below is from Notes from the Tilt-A Whirl- Wide Eyed Wonder in God's Spoken World.  I keep going back and re-reading portions.  It's poetic and beautiful.  It's deep and full of truth.  It's a perfect book for these rainy Northwest spring days.  My husband and daughter both love it too.  Our only copy is a library book.  We will definitely need to buy this one.

Aw, hope you feel better Dawn. It must be horrible to have allergies like that.
PS I like your hair shorter, of course I am partial to short hair. ;)

Just popping in for a quick comment - can't wait to see the haircut :-)

Oh - it's funny. G likes long hair, so I keep it long. I'm ambivalent. But there are times when - like strangely - in the middle of teaching my Sunday School class - when suddenly my hair just drives me crazy, wisping across my face or tickling my eyes or nose, and I find myself grabbing it and fiercely jamming it into a bun. So it doesn't surprise me that, when your face is under that itchy, crawly assault of allergy, you took it out on the hair.

Blessing counting is so wise. So very wise. I think I better do it today, as a matter of fact, because I'm awfully heavy in my mind.
