Camp care packages

My daughter is going away to camp next week.  This is a big milestone for her that she's very excited about.  I know that she's going to have a lot of fun.  This might be harder for me.  This will be her first time away from home for this  long of a time and distance.  I wanted to send along something special that would let her know how much we love her and will miss her- so I created these care packages.  There is a manila envelope with a little treat and a note of encouragement tucked inside for each day.  I had fun making the labels and notecards with PicMonkey.  I collect inspirational quotes on Pinterest, so I included a few of my favorites on the labels.

I know that I'm not the only one sending a child off to camp this summer, so I made these tags and notecards available for anyone who would like to use them.  Enjoy!

Candy was an obvious choice as a treat to stick inside these care packages, but other than that, what else might I include?  Ideas?

Awwww... I remember that bittersweet feeling well. Each time mine goes away for a longer stretch, it comes again, although in lesser amounts. I know she'll be growing and learning and coming home full of adventures to share. Maybe something to help her connect with and remember her new friends, like a little autograph book or one of those silly get to know your friend quizzes? My daughter always likes a new magazine to read too. I hope Grace has a great time!

I think it's too late for this time but this is a website I love for little things to offer.

I wish a good camp to Grace.

How exciting for her! I wouldn't have any good ideas about what to put in those care packages, in my day the trend for parenting was very much "benign neglect" and I've never once had an inspirational quote, let alone a whole care package! ;-) (Don't feel sorry for me, I had glorious wild freedom and endless adventure!) But I like the ideas other people have suggested. Maybe one idea is something that she can share amongst her friends - ie, if you're going to do candy, make it bags of M&Ms so she can share them round during midnight feasts. The fun quizz thing is a nice idea too.

That's weird. I *know* I got that captcha code wrong, but still they allowed my comment! :-)

Oh she will LOVE these!

WOW!! I wish I were going off to camp. Can you send me a daily care package to make it through next week? Because this week was rough - I coulda used some encouragement.

Rachel- Sorry your week was rough! I would gladly send you a daily care package to make it through next week. : )

Thank you ladies, for these great ideas and for your encouragement. You are so sweet.

Oh - I was too late to the party to help. I love the notes. When my kids left for camp, I always made them a little felt animal. I think I've posted about those tiny things. Some of the tiny things were to remind them of our own beloved animals, some were totems, favorite animals in the child's life. One time I made tiny little sculpy pendants, delicate arrangements of tiny fruit - like grapes with peaches and pears, and I hung them from thin ribbon. I sent an extra one with Gin so that she could choose the one girl most special to her and give her that gift. A new, clever hair ornament? A tiny book? I loved those kinds of things at camp.

Kristen- I remember those little felt animals that you posted! They were so sweet. She liked her care packages! They were just notes and candy. Maybe next year I'll step it up a bit!

I print up business size cards with my daughters name and email address to share with friends she makes. I include a small photo on the card so friends will remember her.
