It might not have been the quickest route to get some ice cream for the boys (we actually had some in the freezer at home) but we like to take the scenic route sometimes. It's just more fun, especially when the sun is out in Seattle. First we drove to West Seattle to catch the water taxi. The water taxi is part of the public transportation system here, an inexpensive way to take a little cruise. Also, parking is free and much easier to find in West Seattle vs. downtown.
While waiting for our boat, the boys played on the beach and checked out a shrimp boat.
One trip across the bay takes about fifteen minutes. I packed sack lunches to eat on the boat.
The water taxi dropped us off right where all the kitschy touristy stuff happens. It's also where we can get some really great homemade ice cream.
After an hour, we got back on the boat and went back to West Seattle. All in all, a very fun way to take the kids out for ice cream.
I just had to show you this house in West Seattle. It always makes me smile. This sweet little classic Seattle house, a hold out amidst the towering condos. It reminds me of a favorite chidren's picture book.
