Happier than a bird with a french fry

These past several days have been a happy blur of nothing much but a whole lot of relaxing and time spent with friends and family.  I have definitely moved into a summertime pace of life this past week.  My husband has been on vacation and I do not want it to end.

I went back to my favorite small town for a day of browsing antique shops with my mom and daughter.

My daughter, on break from ballet, has been finding other ways to be show her artistry.  She made these little creatures with clay.

My son has been taking swin lessons- and I believe that this will be the year he turns into a little fish.

The ballet break is over tomorrow.  We were back at the dance store, stocking up on shoes.

There has been a temporary hiatus from healthy eating this week.  There were just too many temptations.  Tomorrow, I'll get back on track.

Yesterday I saw this bike at a flea market.  I love old cruiser bikes.  I sometimes wish that I could get away with no other form of transportation.  It is not to be though.  Tomorrow, I'll start driving my mom taxi at 8:30am with lots of back and forth trips until 6:00 pm.  I'm stilll happy though, because summer is finally here in the northwest.  Temps in the upper seventies are expected tomorrow!

How nice for you! Glad you took some time to treat yourself and sink into summer. I'm smiling at your temperature reference; we are happy to have temperatures fall back into the 80's -- it feels so refreshing compared to the record highs we experienced last week (heat index of 104˚). :-) Enjoy!

Here I am at Gin's, with a chance now to catch up. I deliberately left all knitting, all books and work at home so I could take the quiet moments to do just this; I've missed it sorely. Grace - what wonderful clay guys!! I love the images. I love the old bikes, too - but would only ride one now if the lord would promise I'd not need a to wear a helmet...

And I LOVED the motto. We used to love watching seagulls steal whole steaks off of grills, camping out on Montauk point. And when we went to Paris, we favored an Italian place on the Rue de l'Harpe where cheeky sparrows tended to land on your table and look at your with hope, then slight reproach.

Kristen- I want to read more about your time in France and Italy! Have you written about those experiences before?
